Love, Shout Out Louds

Be good while we are gone!

Dear Friends and Fiends,

We are currently in hibernation, each of us in his own one of the five corners of the world. Do not fret. It is merely an experiment, and it will be done with before the rooster crows. But you see, the records on how well we cope when we are together are vast in detail. Not one figure, not one lark or sigh has gone unnoticed, and we have come to the indisputable conclusion that we do, in fact, belong together. Wonderful news rather, but you do understand that in the name of science we are now obliged to thouroughly investigate the other side of the token in order to find out how well we can cope when we are far apart. That is what we are doing at the moment. So please do not fret friends and fiends, we will be knocking on your radio's door before you know it. Until then, be good. And do not find yourself a new favourite band, or we might be very cross.

Love,
Shout Out Louds
I hearby pledge my eternal allegiance to the unmistakable sound of the Shout out Louds. COME BACK!

The comeback

Blink 182 have announced they are to reform for a tour and new album. The band, who have been on hiatus since February 2005, released a statement on their official website Blink182.com confirming that all three original members - Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker - are currently in the studio together. "To put it simply, we're back," the statement said. "We mean, really back. Picking up where we left off and then some. In the studio writing and recording a new album. Preparing to tour the world yet again. Friendships reformed. 17 years deep in our legacy."Blink 182 are expected to tour this summer, although no official dates have been confirmed. Appearing at last night's Grammy Awards, drummer Barker spoke of the reformation, saying "We used to play music together, and we decided we're going to play music together again. "In September, Barker sustained serious injuries after the plane he was travelling on crashed in South Carolina. He was one of two survivors, along with DJ AM (Adam Goldstein). DeLonge publically dissed Blink-182 in 2006, saying "I do not want to be in a bullshit pop band with some bullshit pop songs while you drive your fucking bullshit car and sing along to it like you’re some 14 year-old girl."

Lowlands announced the first 5 names. The first 5 names? What? Already? Befóre the pre-sale even started? Amazing. Well, here they are:

Arctic Monkeys (no surprise and quite boring), Basement Jaxx (been there, done that), Bon Iver (fuck yes!), Crookers (ugh) and La Caravane Passe (now THIS sounds interesting). The prices are going up as well. What the fuck is happening to this festival?!

The Strokes' fourth album

The Strokes' frontman Julian Casablancas and guitarist Nick Valensi have started writing new material for their band's forthcoming new album, which they are set to start work on next month.

Drummer Fabrizio Moretti, speaking after a gig with his side-project Little Joy, told BBC 6music that although the band members had not finalised plans for their fourth LP's recording, the songwriting process had begun.

"Julian has started writing and Nick has got some material as well," he said. "We're the kind of band that it's not finished until everyone's in one room and everyone's got their parts perfectly. We're a very mechanical band."

NME.COM had previously revealed that the band would reconvene in February for album sessions. "I don't think it's a reunion," Moretti said, "we're constantly in each other's lives."

The band's last album was 'First Impressions Of Earth', released in January 2006.

Work work work, pub club sleep

Heard the White Lies album yet? I quite like it. Not everything on it though, it's a bit fancy-i-am-from-england-so-i-am-móst-definitely-cool, but it's not a waste of your time to give it a listen. Cut my hair today. Highlight of the week? I fucking hope not!

Here's a list of a few (recent) albums i do nót like after waiting for months and months.

Bloc Party - Intimacy:

Wow, dissapointment. Dissatisfaction. They seem to have sold their guitars and bought a handful of synthesizers. I tried to like it, i even tried to listen it without thinking 'what the fuck happened to this band'. Shame. I'm done.

Be Your Own Pet - Get Awkward:

Now this is a band i was really fond of. I still like them, don't get me wrong. It's just that, the second album sounds like they've written it in a week or 2. There's only one track i really love; You're A Waste. The rest? Quite boring to be honest. The split wasn't a surprise.

Now for the GOOD stuff. Obviously this was alot easier.

Sebastien Grainger - Sebastien Grainger & The Mountains:

Damn. I was a bit depressed after the DFA1979 split, because they were one of my favorite bands.

Beck - Modern Guilt:

Crazy, crazy Beck. What a great album, what a great single, and wów, a-ma-zing artwork. I like the black 'n'white photo, but i especially like the typography. Simple but fucking sweet.

Eugene McGuinness - Eugene McGuinness:

To be continued
